A Typical Day

The Pre-School runs daily during term time, and accepts children from age 2 to school age.

Arrival:

The children arrive, are informally registered and can choose what they would like to play with. Children are encouraged to sit quietly while the register is called. We talk about the date, the weather, count how many children are present and what we are going to do during the session. There is also an opportunity for children to talk about something special they have done or to "show and tell".

Activities may be inside or outside and are planned to fit in with the interests and needs of the children. The children are encouraged to join in with the main activities but may also choose something else from the wide range of toys available.

Mid Morning:

Tidy up time and a snack of water or milk and fruit.

Late Morning:

This part of the session is for active play. We might all go in the garden or in the playground to play with the tractors, cars and trikes. Before home time, we have stories, songs or "plays" acted out by the children in the book corner.

Lunch Club:

Lunch club is available and is very popular with our children. Children sit down and have their lunch with staff. Once they have finished their lunch they can choose an activity to share including puzzles, games or stories.

"It is a fabulous Pre-School with good emphasis on play and social interaction. Great garden!"

"It is plain to see that you teachers all get to know the children individually and that they feel secure and happy. The wealth of experience you all have is apparent every time we collect our daughter."
